proton-pass.com is a fan site about Proton Pass, the encrypted password manager developed by the Swiss privacy company Proton. Please note that we are an unofficial fan resource — we are not the original developers and have no affiliation with the company behind the product. We are simply privacy enthusiasts, password manager users and writers who rely on Proton Pass every day and want to share what we have learned along the way.
We are a small, independent team spread across three time zones. Between us we manage family vaults, run password hygiene for a small business and have helped friends, relatives and colleagues migrate away from browsers that store logins in plaintext. Proton Pass has been part of our daily routine since its early days, and this site is our way of giving something back to the wider community of people who are moving their digital life into an encrypted vault for the first time.
The project started the way most fan projects do. One of us kept answering the same questions in forums and chat channels — how zero-knowledge encryption works, what a passkey actually is, how to share logins with a family safely, whether email aliases really cut down on spam. We decided to collect that knowledge in one place. Today the site carries a growing guide section, the story of the product and honest notes about living with a password manager in real life.
Every article is tested on our own vaults before it is published. When we describe a security setting, a migration workflow or a sharing feature, we run it more than once, because behavior can differ slightly between the web app, the browser extensions and the mobile apps.
